Ode to an Avocado

O, my great alligator pear,
Excuse my knife,
Pardon my will.

For underneath your dinosaur
Tapestry lies
The soft green kiss.

And this instrument in my hand
May cut and burn --
But all in love.

O, for you are the fairest fruit;
You draw me in
And ruin me.

Just in case I didn't mention it, I love this poem.
